2007 Dispatcher of the Year

In April 2007, our public safety dispatchers nominated peers for the 2007 Dispatcher of the Year Award. From the nominees, members of the Management Team selected Adrienne Heebner as the recipient of the 2007 Dispatcher of the Year Award.

Adrienne will be publicly recognized at the SCCECC Board meeting on Thursday, July 26, at 1:30pm . Heebner was nominated for the award by her fellow dispatchers and management staff for her positive attitude, professional contributions, team support and work ethic.

After attending Cabrillo College, Heebner began her career in 2001 with the Santa Cruz Consolidated Emergency Communications Center public safety dispatcher. She is currently completing training to become certified as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) at the Center. Since her appointment, Heebner has established herself as a professional and proficient team member in the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center .

In March of 2006, Heebner was cited for her outstanding performance while handling a 9-1-1 call of a reported gunshot victim lying along the side of the roadway. After taking the initial reports from witnesses, she was able to secure a recorded Dying Declaration directly from the mortally wounded victim who named his assailant before expiring. Reflecting on that incident, Heebner said she felt the citation was "rewarding on behalf of the victim and his family".

Heebner enjoys the team work and camaraderie associated with public safety dispatching and aside from "helping others in times of need", she likes the personal rewards of playing a vital role in "catching the bad guy".

National Dispatcher's Week, April 2007, was a solid week of celebrating. Celebrating included open house for User Agencies, Family Day, and treats from Supervisors and co-workers.
