2021 Dispatcher of the Year

German Flores, who began his career as a 9-1-1 Public Safety Dispatcher with Santa Cruz Regional 9-1-1 in May of 2012, has been named the Santa Cruz Regional 9-1-1 Dispatcher of the Year for 2021.

Supported by the training division as well as German’s personal drive and excellent work ethic, he was promoted from Public Safety (PS) Dispatcher Assistant to PS Dispatcher on November 9, 2013. Since then, German has consistently grown as a dispatcher by taking on additional roles---including additional law channels, Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD), Fire Pod Dispatcher, a mentor and training assistant, Communications Training Officer (CTO), and Acting Lead. German recently applied and will be promoted to Lead Dispatcher in later 2021. Through every step of his growth at SCR9-1-1, German has maintained a high level of professionalism, embodies the spirit of a public safety servant, has an outstanding attitude, and is a joy to work with.

German has been a model for high level multi-tasking skills and teamwork. With consistent resolve throughout each day, German is able to take on an extraordinary number of tasks and provide efficient, high level service in both English and Spanish. German works to anticipate the needs of his coworkers and Users and provides proactive assistance to his coworkers.

German Flores was selected by his peers and unanimously endorsed by the Authority’s management team to receive this annual award, and as such, it serves as a statement of appreciation for the qualities German possesses from all those who work with him on a daily basis.
